Queensland's Kaytlyn Smith and Ashley Pardon were over the moon after winning a Gold medal in the Pairs at the Multi Disability National Lawn Bowls Championships at Clearview Bowls Club in Adelaide last month.
The pair were the form team throughout the tournament, losing only one game in the section play to finish as winners of their section. They advanced to the final where they beat New South Wales' Gilbert Hicks and Henry Ryan in straight sets to take out the title. Kaytlyn also finished with a Bronze medal in the ladies singles.
Kaytlyn, who's a member of Edge Hill Bowls Club in Cairns has competed in the event since 2007 and this has been her best result so far. "I was lucky this time to bowl with another bowler from Queensland," she said, "Usually they put me with someone from another state because I'm the only female. But Ashley and I did well at the State Championships and we wanted to bowl together again. I like bowling with Ashley because we know each other's game and we bowl well together."
Kaytlyn will be packing her trusted ABT-evos for her next compeitive outing when she heads off to represent Australia at the IBD World Games in South Africa in May.
