Scott Thulborn took out another international title with his new Cruze bowls when he won the Burnside Invitation Pairs in New Zealand over the weekend.
Teaming up with Corey Wedlock, Scott had been selected as a Bowls Australia representative for the event along with Henselite teammates Tiffany Brodie and Kristina Krstic.
Scott, who is the reigning World Champion of Champions, beat Christchurch bowlers Alvin Gardiner and Paul Mathieson 13-12 in a nail-biter to take home the $3600 Stewart Buttar memorial tournament crown.
"The event is a very strong field of current and ex-international bowlers," he said "The majority are from all around NZ. It is just a quality tournament on beautiful greens. They made us feel very welcome and we made many new friends through the experience."
"We are very proud to have won the prestigious event, managing to play some very important bowls towards the end of close games."
Scott had has his Henselite Cruze bowls for less than a week before using them to win the World Champion of Champions in November last year so had no hesitation using the Cruze again during the Burnside Pairs. "They handled the gusty conditions well and were really predictable on the running shots," he said.
Scott will be back in New Zealand again competiting for Adelaide Endurance in the Bowls Premier League which begins on Feb 27th.
